Guest Artist - Jill Sheath

It is time for some cards from a guest artist! This is a card made by one of my hostesses, Jill Sheath. I think you will agree, she is a very talented card maker.

Jill has used the stamp set 'Heartfelt thanks', one of Jill's favourite sets, with the 'chalk popping' technique, using versamark ink and the Stampin' Pastels. Some white organdy ribbon finishes off the card nicely.

Here is Jill's second card. Also using Heartfelt thanks as well as the delicate design wheel.

And lastly a whole set of cards using the stamp set "Simple Somethings" (now retired). What a great gift for a friend, a cute set of cards for all occasions.

Simply Said Make and Takes

Here are four very similar cards! They are the 'make and take' card my customers have been making at recent workshops. The background stamped on each one differs slightly, but it is a bit difficult to see that in the photo! They obviously each use a different colour combination too. I have used a nifty little technique to give that lovely flat bow (Thanks to Linda Higgins for this idea) as well as some other fun techniques.

Each guest at my workshops gets to make one of these cards for free and also gets a stamping technique booklet to take home, as well as having a great night out with their friends and learning about Stampin' Up!'s great range of products.

Happy Birthday Mum!

Here is the mini book I made for my Mum for her 60th birthday. I couldn't show you until today as she does check out my blog occasionally! Happy Birthday Mum - hope you have a fabulous day.

It is a book about our family with photos and words to make Mum feel special. It also has pockets with hidden photos and words.

The whole project is made from The Recollections designer papers using mellow moss, cranberry crisp, chocolate chip and naturals ivory cardstock to embellish as well as the Prep School ribbon originals which all match perfectly! I love the fact that I can make a project that comes together so quickly because all of the colours match - thanks Stampin' Up!

Get Well Soon Card

A get well card for someone who has been having a few health issues lately. I always hope that sending a handmade card can brighten someone's day - especially when they have been unwell or going through a rough time. Is there someone you know that could use a little reminder that you are thinking of them? Why not make them a card and pop it in the post. It could brighten their day and will make you feel good too! Paisley Navy Birthday Card

I have been meaning to use my paisley bacground stamp since I got it and finally managed it this week. I also wanted to try out using the riveting set this way - punching out the centre image and threading it onto ribbon. I am quite happy with the results which I think could be used for a male birthday too! Thanks for looking.

Update on flooding around us

Here is the view at 4.30pm today (Saturday 9 June 2007). The water is the background has grown into a lake since this morning! Our backyard - still a mudslide! You can now just see the island and bridge emerging from the dam.

We've had a bit of rain!

We've had a little bit of rain here over the last few days - I think 127mm in all - so I thought I would post photos of our backyard and view. This first photo is from a dam that usually has an island in the middle and a bridge over to it. Both are now under water! The long stripe of water in the background is not usually there! Our actual backyard - now a very large mudslide! This is a shot of 2 dams that are now almost joined!

Spritzing markers on stamps with water

This was the card I created for challenge 3 of our cyberstamp tonight. The challenge was to use the Stampin' Write Markers (which are in the special promotion this month if you are interested - see post below!) direct to rubber and then spritz the stamp with water, then stamp. I quite like the effect - it also means that if you use more than 2 colours of markers on the stamp, as I did, that they blend well together on the image. If you have the Stampin' write markers give it a go.

Inspiration from the Idea book and Catalogue

I have been in a cyberstamp tonight with the INKlings. It was lots of fun! We had 3 challenges to complete. One scrapbook page and 2 cards.

Here is my card for challenge 2 - to choose a sample from the Stampin' Up! 2007 Idea book and catalogue and recreate it using different stamp sets. I choose the sample on page 30 of the catalogue. My card is quite different even though it uses the same layout and colours. I really enjoyed this challenge because it made me realise how many great samples there are in the Idea book and catalogue. I will definitely be using it for inspiration again!

Wooden Album Book

I have been busy this past week doing something other than card making!! Off the page items! I am completely out of my comfort zone and loving it!

Here is a mini album with wooden covers that I altered. (that just means you cover it in pretty paper, ink, ribbons and other embellishments!) I also made some pages to go inside and added some photos. It is going to be a present for Cameron for his birthday (don't tell him, it's a surprize - I'm pretty sure he doesn't read my blog!)
