Buggy Birthday

Just wanted to share a card I made for a 6 year old's birthday on the weekend. Hope he liked it! Thanks for looking. Happy Stamping!

Guest Artist - Alissa Buckley

Isn't this card beautiful! It was made by my good friend, Alissa Buckley. Alissa kindly let me share it with all of you too - thanks Alissa! It is made using the watercolour vine jumbo wheel on the pretty in pink cardstock, then the "Be happy" stamp set in certainly celery. Alissa has used the Stampin' Write markers to ink up her stamps so they are two toned - really effective, I think you will agree. She has also used some punched and cut out flowers from 'little pieces' and 'simply said' which look very pretty in the corner of the card. The word 'sweet' is from some word candy I gave Alissa. (Using the Word by Word background stamp cut up into individual words!) The alphabet beads are the only none Stampin' Up! product!

Well done Alissa and thanks for letting me share your creation.

Glittery flowers and butterfly

This is a birthday card I made for one of my lovely downlines. I have added dazzling diamonds glitter to all the flower centers as well as to the butterfly, although you can't see that very clearly! I love the dazzling diamonds glitter, it is so fine, very very sparkly, and goes with everything!

I used the two way glue pen to add the glitter to the flower centers, but decided I wanted the whole butterfly to be glittery, so used the stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp with versamark directly over the colour stamped image then used heat and stick powder to make the glitter stick to the whole image.
I stamped the greeting "You make the world special just by being in it" on vellum and attached it with some cream grosgrain ribbon.
I stamped a matching envelope too, cos that just says to me (and I hope others!) "I really wanted to make this card special for you, so took the time to stamp a matching envelope"

It looks better in real life, but you will have to take my word for that! Thanks for looking.

Double mounting stamps

I thought I would share a way of making some of your stamps more versatile. Here are some pictures of stamps that I have mounted with the words and images separate on the block.

If you purchase stamps that have both images and words that are designed to go together on the block of wood - you can actually cut the words away from the image and mount it on the side of your block. This makes the stamps more versatile, in my opinion! You can then stamp the image lots of times on a card, without the words, then stamp the words just where want them, just once!

There are lots of Stampin' Up! stamp sets where this sort of mounting is possible, for instance:

Greetings galore, Figures of speech, Little hellos, Nice and Easy Notes, Taggers dozen and Very Punny (retired set, used above in picture).

It can be tricky to cut between the words and the images but I found using a very small pair of scissors or a craft knife worked well. I also bent the rubber to make the gap easier to access.

I hope this tip is useful for some of you.

I've had fun this week making gifts that I can give to my hostesses. (Every one of my hostesses gets a little gift from me!)

Here is a notepad wallet that I cased from Amy Celona and made using a borrowed stamp set from Kirsti (one of my faithful downline! - Thanks Kirsti!) The stamp set is from the current Spring Mini Catalogue and is called "You make me Happy", this is one of two greetings in the set.

I've used Certainly celery and Almost amethyst as the main colours as well as perfect plum ink for the centres of the flowers. I used the 2nd greeting in the set and stamped it on the inside of the wallet, it reads "You make the world special just by being in it" - I love this greeting! I also sponged with old olive ink to give a more textured sort of look.

Of course all products used are Stampin' Up! and can be purchased from myself. I can take payment by credit card or direct deposit.

Port Douglas Beach

Here are some shots of me on the beach in Port Douglas and at the beautiful Sheraton Mirage. Just so you can all see how lovely it was! and to remind myself that I did actually attend.

Swaps from Incentive Trip

Well, it has been a week since I returned from the Stampin' Up! Incentive Trip in Port Douglas. It all seems like some wonderful dream - but luckily I have fantastic swaps, make and takes and photos to remember it all. I was the guest of my upline, Jayne, what a great friend.
