Stampin with Joanna

Brayered Background and Corner rounder

This is one of my first attempts at brayering a background!  What?  I hear you ask! 

Well I have inked up my brayer (a rubber roller) with two different colours of ink (bashful blue and old olive in this case) and rolled my little heart out to apply them to white glossy cardstock.  This created the background for the images on my card.  I also masked a circle (using a circle cut out from a post it note with my circle punch) which stayed white as I brayered.  I sponged some yellow ink into the circle using a sponge dauber to create the sun!

I learnt all this at a recent "Brayer Training Day" with some members of my team.  Thank you to all of them for the fun as well as useful tips on how to brayer more effectively!  Thanks also for the use of this stamp set, Shore Thing, which you can only get until the end of March.

Watercolouring ATC

These are some ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) that I made for a recent swap.  The technique we had to use this time was watercolouring.  I used Stampin' Up!s watercolour paper, (which made the job so much easier - the colours blend much nicer and you can 'pull' the colour around easier) and my watercolour wonder crayons.  I did experiment a little using my ink pad lids to colour a couple of the flowers, these are the slightly brighter ones.  I have coloured around the outside of each of the flowers with bordering blue - this makes them 'pop' from the card a little more.  I hope everyone likes their swap card.

Details:

Stamps:  Both way Blossoms (Level 2 hostess set in 2007-2008 Catalogue), warm words, paisley background.

Card:  Always artichoke, regal rose, watercolour paper

Ink:  regal rose, staz on black, always artichoke

Accessories:  Aquapainter, watercolour wonder crayons, sponge daubers.

Card Making Class

Olivia's birthday card

It is my niece's birthday soon so this is the card I made for her.  I hope she likes it!  Watch the post Olivia, this is on it's way to you with a pressie too!

I have used the new wide grosgrain celery ribbon and teamed it with some pink thin grosgrain ribbon.  I have seen this done a few places lately and wanted to try it too.  I like the effect.  Kristina Werner used it on one of her cards recently.  She has a wonderful blog that is worth checking out for some great card making ideas.

Valentine Card and Card Making Classes

A valentine card!  I have a few card making classes coming up so thought as an added extra I would let everyone create a card for that special someone in their life (or potential special someone!) for valentine's day. 

This card design is one we created as a make and take at Stampin' Up! Convention last year, with one of the free stamp sets we were given, 'Dream come true'.  I have changed the original colours and used organdy ribbon instead of twill tape.  I quite like the simplicity of the design and thought that in these colours that it would be good for a bloke or a gal.

Plum Stem Silhouettes

This is a card that my guests have been making at my workshops recently.  They can use any of the 6 greetings from the 'Lots of Thoughts' Sale-a-bration stamp set to customise their card for their own purpose.

It uses versamark ink on both the pale plum and perfect plum cardstock to create a subtle watermark on both.  This is such versatile ink (maybe thats why they named it versa-mark!!)  Then we stamp in perfect plum ink using a second image from the Stem Silhouettes stamp set.  Stem Silhouettes is only available until the end of March - and may well not make it to the new Idea Book and Catalogue - so if you love it (like I do) then make sure you purchase it before then.  Just email me to place your order.

Some paper piercing, ink applied with sponge daubers to the edges and grosgrain ribbon finish the card off nicely.
