Card Compendium using Envelopes!

 

Here is a card compendium that I created using 2 envelopes!  It is a nifty idea that Jayne Mercer showed us all at Stampin' Up! Regional training recently.  Here is a veiw of the inside:

 

You can see from this photo how the two envelopes are joined together.  You just cut off the flap of one envelope then use the remaining flap to join the two.  One side is used to house the cards, the other, the envelopes for the cards - obviously the cards and envelopes you use in the compendium need to be smaller than the envelopes you use to make it! 

Here are a couple of the cards that I have put in my compendium.  They were inspired by some cards I saw on Sarah Klasses blog (Thanks Sarah!)

I used the 'Garden Whimsy' stamp set, 'polka dot background' and 'basic phrases' for the greetings.  The two toned effect on the images is created using the 'Rock 'n Roll' technique.

A quick and easy gift - perfect for a teacher at the end of the year!  I hope you enjoy creating your own.

It is my good friend Jayne's birthday today!  Happy Birthday Jayne!  Some of us are holding a virtual birthday party for Jayne.  I am providing the champagne!

Birthday card for Hudson!

 

I am back!  I have been away with my family for a short break, I hope you didn't miss me too much!

Here is the birthday card my son and I made for Hudson!  Benjamin helped by stamping basketballs all over the orange background card, he also chose the colours - pumpkin pie and night of navy.  We hope that Hudson liked it.  We enjoyed making it for him together.

I love how the 'Family favourites' stamp set coordinates perfectly with the 'All in the family' set so you can make any type of card you require.  The party hat and balloons in this case - as well as the basketball (although you can't see that very well!)

I also enjoy adding the person's name to their card - it makes it so much more personal when they know you have made the card especially for them!

Card:  Pumpkin pie, night of navy, whisper white

Ink: Staz on black, night of navy, pumpkin pie

Accessories:  spiral punch, word window punch, stampin dimensionals, aquapainter and ink pads for colouring.

Gifts for Teachers or Hostesses

 

Need a nice handmade gift for a teacher at the end of the year?  or perhaps a wonderful hostess at one of your workshops?   

Here are some Post it Note holders that I have made for just these purposes!

I used the Stampin Up! 'Spring Silhouettes' double sided designer series paper as my base and embellished this with flowers, leaves and a greeting.  The flowers are stamped using the 'One of a Kind' stamp set and then punched out with the coordinating 'Boho Blossoms punch'.  I just love that I can make my own flowers in just the right colour to embellish my projects now!

The leaves are cut out, folded in half then fed through my paper crimper on an angle.  When opened out again - they look just like real leaves (well, almost!). 

The greeting is also from the 'One of a Kind' Stamp set and punched out with the small oval punch.

The completed decorated piece is then slipped inside an acrylic photo frame and a pad of post it notes is attached to the top.  Hopefully the recipients of these gifts will never lose their post it notes again!

Christmas Card Class

 

On Tuesday 21st October I am holding my regular monthly card making classes.  We make 10 cards (5 each of 2 different designs) and learn techniques at the same time, all for only $20 per person.

This month we are making Christmas cards, including this window card.  The colours are almost amethyst and elegant eggplant, slightly non traditional - but I like the way it has turned out! We are also using glitter to make it even more sparkly.

Big Bold Birthday Card

 

Here is a card I created with the 'Big Bold Birthday' stamp set.  It is a great set with 13 images in it and it happens to be on special this month (October Birthday Promotion 2008), if you spend $20 on regular catalogue merchandise you can get it for only $43.16, instead of the normal $53.95, quite a saving! 

To create the two tone presents I used the rock 'n' roll technique.  First inking the stamp in certainly celery ink then rolling it in the brocade blue ink, so only the edges become blue.  I have also masked the two outer presents, prior to stamping the center present, to make it appear as if it is behind the other two.
