I have been away on holiday and enjoying a bit of time away from Stamping during the Christmas break.  Hence my lack of updating my blog!

I did get a chance to play with a new set from the Summer Mini Catalogue however (thanks to Michelle for lending it to me!), Embrace Life.  A lovely set that is now firmly on the top of my wish list.

I also only used limited colours:  certainly celery, elegant eggplant and whisper white.

Christmas Cards for School Friends

 

Benjamin and I have been busy this week making cards for all his school friends.  Here they all are!

We created a simple but effective design that we could make reasonably quickly.  Benjamin stamped the backgrounds, while I stamped the trees.  We both sponged the edges of the white card with real red ink, to make it 'pop', and then stuck on the red stars to complete the cards.

Benjamin then decided to personalise each card with the names of the recipient!  He also wrote inside each card.

I think we did quite a good job!  I hope all his school friends like them - although they probably will enjoy the candy cane stuck on the back of each card more!

I Completed a Scrapbook Layout!

 

It has been a while since I completed a double layout, and I so enjoyed doing it!  I really need to make more time to scrapbook the cherished moments of my family - so they can enjoy them for years to come - and the fact that I get to enjoy myself in the process is an added bonus!

This layout is based on a sketch by Becky Higgins (how I begin most of my pages!).  I find using a sketch a great way to start, then I add the details and embellishments. 

I stamped the 'polka dot background' to make my own patterned card and I just had to use a new set from the Summer Mini Catalogue - "In the Stars" - a great sets with 7 different stars and a greeting.  I have added lots of stars that I punched out using both the star punches. 

The large '7' is a chipboard number which I used a sponge dauber and ink pad to colour - then edged it with whisper white ink to make it stand out a bit more.  The main colours are wild wasabi and creamy caramel.  Here are some close ups:
