Corduroy Button Challenge!

 

This is a close up of one of the lovely new Kiwi Kiss Corduroy buttons available in the Stampin' Up! Spring Mini Catalogue.  When I attended a stamping weekend away I challenged myself to create a card using products from the Spring Mini.  I would start with a product and create a card from there.

This was the card I created using a corduroy button!  A strange way to begin, but it seemed to work for me that weekend!  I also managed to squeeze in quite a few other products.  See the list below for details. Remember products from the Spring Mini are available for a limited time only!

Carol Dunstan Soft Summer Card

 

I recently attended a weekend away stamping, with the INKlings Stampin' Up! team.  One of the other attendees on the weekend was the talented Carol Dunstan.  She created this lovely card and when I saw it I just had to make it!  Carol even loaned me her Kiwi Kiss marker to make the card.  You can see how she makes her own 'in colour' markers HERE.  Thank you Carol.

My main aim on the weekend away was to create samples of cards using products from the new Spring Mini Catalogue.  I love the new Corduroy buttons, and Carol's use of them on this card was just perfect.  I created lots of samples that weekend and I will be showing them to you over the next few days.  Stay tuned!

Soft Summer Catalogue Case

 

This is a card I created by copying it directly from the Spring Mini Catalogue (Page 22).  I find the Stampin' Up! catalogues great sources of inspiration and ideas and often copy cards, or use the card sketches from the catalogues as a starting point for making a card.

I have changed the card slightly from the one in the Spring Mini.  Can you tell me what the difference is?  I can't offer any reward - just making my day by leaving me a comment - Thanks!

Mini Marshmellows in a bag!

 

These are the cute treats I gave to everyone who attended by Spring Mini Catalogue Launch Party.  I usually give them something nice to eat!

I stamped each bag with an image from the Soft summer stamp set, a new one in the Spring Mini, using White Staz On ink - another product only available in the Spring Mini Catalogue until the end of November.  Here is a close up so you can see the image better, although it is difficult to see (sorry!):

Corner Bookmark

  

This was one of the items I gave away to all the attendees of my Spring Mini Catalogue Launch Party earlier in August.  It is a corner bookmark.  Here is it 'in action' to give you a better idea of how it works.  It sits on the corner of your page to keep your place in a book:

 

I made lots of these, here are the 4 of have left!  I am sure some lucky hostesses of mine will be getting these over the coming days.

 

I used the lovely papers from the Bella Bleu Designer Series Paper pack with a stamp from the new Oval All stamp set.  Of course I teamed it with the beautiful scalloped oval punch (only available in the Spring Mini until the end of November - order now so you are not disappointed!) and large oval punch.

I coloured the large flower on each one using my 'not quite navy' ink pad and blender pen.

Make and Take 3 from Spring Mini Launch

 

This is the third and final 'make and take' from my Spring Mini Catalogue Launch earlier this month.  It is a card adapted from one by Merryl Blacker, my lovely friend and downline.  Thank you for the inspiration Merryl!

I have used the Tree trimmings stamp set.  A great Christmas set and even better at only $24.95.  The card is folded slightly differently as you can see.  Here is the front view:

 

The ribbon is the fabulous super wide Riding hood red striped grosgrain ribbon - only available in the Spring Mini Catalogue.  It is perfect for Christmas projects.  I have used a small folded piece to assist the receiver in opening the card.

Here is the view of the inside of the card:

 

And a view of the great idea in hiding your ribbon inside your card.  Using the wide oval punch (or any oval punch that suits your ribbon size), cutting it in half and adhering it over the edge of your ribbon, so the 'messy' bits are hidden!  Another super Merryl Blacker idea!

Make and Take 2 from Spring Mini Launch

 

Here is the second 'make and take' from my Spring Mini Catalogue Launch earlier this month.  It is 4 little gift cards in a bag tied up with ribbon.  An idea shown to Australian Stampin' Up! demonstrators at our last convention (another benefit of being a demonstrator - they show you lots of ideas!  If you would like to become a demonstrator and join my team, please feel free to contact me and find out more).

I used the fabulous Oval All stamp set.  It has the 4 greetings you can see in the cards (Best wishes, Just for you, thank you and fabulous friend) and they all fit perfectly in the large oval or scalloped oval punch (magic!).  It is a great set to add greetings to your cards.

This set and the scalloped oval punch are in the new Australian Spring Mini Catalogue and so will only be available until the end of November - I would suggest ordering soon, so you don't miss out.

Make and Take 1 from Spring Mini Launch

 

I held a Spring Mini Catalogue Launch at the beginning of this month and here is the first 'make and take' that everyone who attended got to make, and take home!  I will show you the others over the next couple of days, so pop in again soon.

I used the Great Friend stamp set.  I think it is my favourite from the Spring Mini - although there are so many nice sets, it is a difficult choice!  The butterfly is just lovely, here is a close up of it all glittery:

 

The scalloped oval punch has to be my favourite punch of all time!  I just love the little scallops.  I have used it on this card as a cloud, here is a close up:

Build a Roo Birthday Card

 

This is the card I made for my husband, Cameron, for his 40th Birthday last month.  I bought this stamp set, Build a Roo, with him in mind.  Our sons are always telling us how much they love us Eg I love you around the universe a billion, trillion times!  So this set was perfect to remind Cam of how much we love him.

I tried something a little different for the greeting.  Stamping it and punching it out using the word window punch, then sticking it to the twill tape.  I did alter the greeting from the set slightly, omitting the 'I' and adding "we" in its place.

I hope you like it as much as Cam did.  We celebrated his birthday in style, cos you are only 40 once!

Pick a Petal Improved Card!

 

This is the stepped up version of a card you may have seen before.

In this version I have cut out all of the indivual petals so I could also curl them slightly to look more like real petals, I have added crimped leaves and stamped and punched out the centre of the flower too.

I have used the technique Versamark Resist to create the petals. I hope you like the stepped up version as much as I do.  Enjoy!

Faux Woodgrain Card Making Class

Watercoloured Rose Card

 

This card reminds me of my Grandmother.  She loved roses!  I have watercoloured the rose using an aquapainter and Stampin' Up! ink pads, after first stamping this lovely rose using Staz on ink.

The rose is from the stamp set "Fifth Avenue Floral" and is just one of the lovely flowers in the set.  I plan on using it a lot in the near future.

Brayering Card Class

Thank you Soccer Cards

 

Finally, the last soccer game of the season has rolled around again for our son.  We always love the beginning of the season and we always love the end of the season (smile!). 

Anyway.  I was, of course, responsible for making the 'Thank you' cards for the coach and the manager of the team.  Here is the card for our lovely manager, Sharon! She did an awesome job.  Thanks for all of your efforts Sharon!

And here is the card for our great coach, Barry.  You did an awesome job, too Barry!:

 

You will notice they are remarkably similar!  I thought that since I loved my first card so much, that I shouldn't change it too much - why change perfection??!!  I hope you enjoy the cards too!

I am proud of my soccer ball in both cards, although I cannot take full credit for this idea.  Merryl, my wonderful downline, came up with using the soccer ball from the family favourites stamp set with the build a brad kit (a great kit that gives you the large brads and 'bubbles', so you can create your own unique brads - cool!). It is such a great embellishment.  Thanks for your inspiration Merryl!  Here is a close up:

Flower Pot Card

 

Here is a card that I have made for my swap for the INKlings team weekend away, this weekend.  I just love being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator because I get to go on stamping weekends away and create all weekend, not to mention spending time with some lovely ladies - all of whom love to do what I love to do!  Heaven!

I have used the ever versatile Circle circus stamp set and of course the It's beautiful jumbo wheel (my favourite!). 

Colours are riding hood red, barely banana and pumpkin pie - inspiration came from my husband for these colours.  I was at a loss as to what colours my flowers should be so I asked him which colours I should use - he said  "red, yellow and orange" and so... here is the finished card!  Thanks honey - you are always an inspiration to me but especially valuable this time.
