Pun Fun Inspiration from Catalogue Card

 

This card is one that I created on my recent weekend away stamping.  I chose a card sample from the new Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalogue, that I liked, (on the top of Page 58), then I changed the stamp set and the colours to make it my own!

I have used Pun Fun instead of the Lots of Bots stamp set and chosen the more muted colours of baha breeze, basic gray, soft suede, very vanilla and sahara sand.

The dotty background is done using the Big Shot Polka Dot Textured Embossing folder and the cirles are cut using the Circle Scissors Plus ( a great tool, for cutting circles from 1" to 6" wide).

Anyway... On to my post:

Here is a card I created for the males in our lives!  I used circle circus, a great all purpose stamp set, teamed with masculine colours and the sanded background.  Metal embellishments are always good for masculine cards hence the jumbo eyelet! and string instead of ribbon which is a bit too girly!

I couldn't resist using the Big Shot too - the tag shape is created with the Sizzlits 4 -pack dies set.  And of course all the circle punches I could find!

 

As it is a special occasion (my first blog hop) I decided to treat you with some more male cards too!  The following 2 cards are both using the same stamp set, Party Hearty, but one card is a birthday card and the other is a Father's Day card.  They use the same cardstock but arranged in a different orientation.  I hope you like them:

 

The final card I have to show you is using the stamp set 'Lovely as a Tree', a great one for masculine projects. Austin's Birthday

 

Here is the card and matching bookmark I made for my nephew Austin's birthday.

It can always be challenging making cards for boys that are not too babyish.  I hope that Austin liked his 'football' inspired card.  I used the football from the 'family favourites' stamp set and teamed it with the 'happy birthday' greeting from the 'family phrases' stamp set.  I also stamped his name using the 'Short order' alphabet (I like this one as it has upper and lower case in the one alphabet set).

Adding some crimping (always good on male cards) and some grey patterned paper (from the Urban Oasis designer series paper pack) and the card was complete.
